Most apps check what you type. Hedgy listens to how you speak: acoustic analysis pinpoints mispronounced sounds and — uniquely — the exact syllable you stressed.
Say a word and Hedgy tells you which syllable you actually stressed, with per-vowel acoustic analysis. Misplaced stress is the #1 giveaway of an accent — and no mainstream app checks it.

Which languages can I learn on Hedgy?

Can I use Hedgy without a teacher?
Yes — Hedgy works fully as self-study. Live lessons, homework and multiplayer games are optional extras when you learn with a teacher.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Hedgy runs in any modern browser and can be installed as an app (PWA) on your phone or desktop for an offline-friendly experience.
How does the pronunciation feedback work?
You record yourself saying a word; Hedgy analyzes the audio to check both the individual sounds and which syllable you stressed, then shows you exactly where it went wrong.
What makes Hedgy’s pronunciation feedback different?
Hedgy doesn’t just transcribe your speech — it analyzes the audio acoustically and detects which syllable you stressed (ударение), something no mainstream app checks. You see the mispronounced sounds and the misplaced stress, and can compare with native reference audio.
Can I read my own books in Hedgy?
Yes. Upload a PDF to My Books and read it inside Hedgy — on your own or synchronized with your teacher during a lesson. Tap any word for translation, stress and audio; scanned books are handled by OCR.
How do lessons with a teacher work?
You link with your teacher by a code. During a live lesson the teacher’s word cards, books and games appear on your screen in real time; between lessons you get homework and can chat. After every paid lesson you receive 7 days of Premium for free.
What does Premium cost?
Premium is $5 per month, billed securely through Paddle. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of your billing period.
I’m a teacher — how does billing work?
Teachers don’t pay a subscription. You top up a prepaid wallet and each lesson costs $1. Your students get Premium access free for 7 days after every paid lesson.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. New Premium subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days, and unused teacher wallet balance is refundable on request. See our Refund Policy for details.
What languages is the interface in?
The learning interface (menus and buttons) is available in nine languages: English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Arabic, Malay and Chinese. This is separate from the languages you can study.
